When you send a parcel with DHL Service Point, we recommend completing your parcel details online to save time when in store. Once you have completed your parcel details, you will receive a confirmation number. Simply take this number to your local DHL Service Point along with the item/s that you want to send, pick a free box and pay in store.

You will need to provide the following contact details for yourself and the parcel receiver:

• Name and surname
• Full address
• Valid phone number
• Email address
• Accurate content descriptions per item (Item descriptions should answer these three questions: What is it? What is it for? What is it made of?
• Value of each item
• Ensure none of your items are on the prohibited list.

Free packaging will be provided in store and you don’t need to print anything at home.

The difference between a DHL Express Service Centre and a DHL Express Service Point location is that DHL Express Service Centres are owned by DHL. The rest are partner stores like WHSmith, Ryman, Safestore, Robert Dyas and 100s of independent stores nationwide. This means that we have weighing and measuring capabilities for parcels when using your own packaging and insurance cover at all DHL Express Service Centres.

Insurance options are also available at selected Ryman and Robert Dyas partner locations.

Our transit times apply from the day the courier collects from the DHL Express Service Point and the latest drop-off times for the same day collection are available from the store that we’ve partnered with.

DHL Express Service Points, located at DHL Express Service Centres along with their latest drop-off times for the same-day courier collection are available on DHL.com.

While many of our locations are open seven days a week for dropping parcels off, our couriers only collect Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).

Delivery times (transit times) can vary depending on the size and content of the parcel, the origin and destination locations within each country and public holidays.

Please note that our delivery time estimates are based on deliveries to major destinations, they don’t include time in customs and are provided as a guide only.

If your parcel doesn't fit into one of our free envelopes or boxes, and you are using your own packaging, you may wish to consider one of our other services:

Book online with DHL Express - with this courier collection service, the maximum parcel weight is 70kg and the maximum parcel size is 120 x 80 x 80cm.

Book with DHL Express by phone - you can get an online quote for parcels up to 70kg in weight and 120 x 80 x 80cm in size, but if you have heavier or larger items to send, Customer Service will also be able to provide you with a quote. Surcharges may apply.

If you still prefer to drop off, you can only send in your own packaging at our DHL Service Points located in DHL Express Service Centres. Here they’ll be able to weigh and measure your parcel.

Please remember to check what you can and can't send with DHL before you visit.

There are some obvious things that you cannot send with DHL (such as animals, illegal substances, guns and explosives for instance). But there are also less obvious items that DHL can’t transport, including aerosols, perfumes, aftershaves, eau de toilettes and cash. Please check our list of prohibited and restricted items to ensure that your parcel can be delivered without any delays.

Note that these prohibited items apply to parcels being sent from and within the United Kingdom. For international carriage, there may be additional prohibited items specified by the country of destination.

Shipment of any prohibited item(s) shall be considered a material breach of our Terms and Conditions of Carriage and DHL shall hold no liability for any prohibited item(s), which are subsequently damaged or lost whilst in our control.

When a parcel is sent across international borders, regardless of whether the shipment is a gift or not, it must go through an import procedure determined by Customs law in the destination country. This is based on the information you provide, such as the content descriptions, declared value, weight of each item, and country of origin.

Country of origin is where the item was manufactured, produced or assembled, or where an item comes from.

Dutiable goods are given a classification code that is known as the Harmonised System code. This will be done for you based on the information that you provide when sending your parcel.

Customs duties and taxes are not included in DHL’s price and are payable by the receiver regardless of whether you’re sending a gift.

Some goods may not attract Customs duties and taxes. This is determined by the Customs law of the country that you are sending your parcel to.

The Customs authorities in the destination country will determine whether any duties and taxes are applicable when the parcel arrives. This is based on the information you provide when sending your parcel such as accurate content descriptions, declared value, weight of each item and country of origin.

Country of origin is where the item was manufactured, produced or assembled, or where an item comes from.

Duties and taxes are payable by the receiver.

Shipment protection is available from DHL Express Service Points located at DHL Express Service Centres and DHL Express Service Points located in Ryman and Robert Dyas stores.
